Nets-Kings: Fan Forum

In the 30th game of the season, the Nets take on the Sacramento Kings, looking to rebound from a disastrous game against Indiana. Come discuss the action in the comments!

Brooklyn Nets Trading Block: Central Division Edition

The “who can the Nets deal Deron and Brook, and Joe, for series continues.” Here are some plausible ideas the Nets can explore in the central division: with the Pistons, Cavaliers, Pacers, Bulls, or Bucks. Here’s a lay of the land.

DETROIT PISTONS

-Depth Chart: Jennings, Caldwell-Pope, Singler, Monroe, Drummond; Meeks, Augustin, Butler, Jerebko, Datome, Dinwiddie

-Pistons M.O.: Stan Van Gundy made clear in using the stretch exception to waive Josh Smith (spreading his cap hit over 2.5 times the years of his deal, at half the rate)  that he is going to build the roster through his youth and seeks flexibility. That makes the Nets an awkward trade fit. Brandon Jennings is atrocious, so maybe Stan Van Gundy wants him out of town, but he’s not a fan of Deron. Greg Monroe? He is a lumbering big who scores in the post, but does not defend, pass, move, or play well as a complementary part in the pick and roll — any reason to trade for the lefty, shorter Brook Lopez? Drummond is the one piece Van Gundy sees as a cornerstone, so he is not going anyplace.

Brooklyn Nets Trades: Northwest Division

This is the second installment of six articles (for six divisions) featuring some potential trades the Nets can make, involving Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, and Brook Lopez. For the first installment, covering the pacific division, click here.  For a piece on Deron and Brook and why the Nets may need to trade one or both at this point, click here. This installment features potential trade partners in the Northwest Division: the Nuggets, Jazz, Timberwolves, Blazers, and Thunder.

DENVER NUGGETS

-Depth Chart: Lawson, Afflalo, Chandler, Faried, Mozgov; Gallinari (torn meniscus), Foye, Hickson, Arthur, Nurkic, Robinson, Harris, Gee, McGee

-The Nuggets M.O.: It’s hard to say. After creating a 57 win roster in the wake of the Melo trade around an awesome GM-Coach combo in Masai Ujiri and George Karl, the Nuggets bizarrely let both go and have looked lost since. Ty Lawson is a player they clearly see as a cornerstone, but beyond that things are murky (they may see Kenneth Faried as a cornerstone). Similar to the Nets, their one saving grace is Lawson and Faried are the sole deals on the books in the 2016 summer, which allows them to reshape the roster. Ironically, with multiple middling to good veterans in house, many of whom may not be part of the current core, the Nuggets may be looking to deal from that stable, similarly to the Nets.

Deron and Brook: A Tale Of Men Whose Hearts Are Elsewhere

On Christmas, Kevin Randall of the NY Times penned this great article about the Milwaukee Bucks: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/12/26/sports/nba-bucks-looking-for-an-edge-hire-expert-in-face-time.html?_r=0

I’ll answer your first question: no, this piece is not about the Bucks or about Jason Kidd. The short version of this article, as related to the Nets: the Bucks have hired a facial expression analyst, in the hopes that this analyst can help them, through body and facial language analysis, in their roster building.

Think of your daily lives. Are you nicer to people when you’re in a good mood? And when you’re nicer to others, are they nicer to you? Are you more likely to see conflict with others, perform poorly, or lose allies when in a bad mood?
