Dwight to Brooklyn? Let It Go

Since the Nets got Deron Williams, they’ve chased Dwight Howard. And as I’ve maintained all along, the rumors would not die for good until Howard signed someplace longterm. Sure enough, new articles are out this week about the Nets chasing Howard, and Billy King gets asked about Howard everytime he’s on the radio. But here is why getting Howard is next to impossible.

Nets: What’s Next?

It’s that time of year again. A season is in the books, and now it’s time to look ahead to the draft and free agency. Last summer the Nets were coming off a 22-44 season and many thought Deron Williams was headed to Dallas. Billy King got him to stay by revamping the roster with 10 new faces, and the Nets improved more over a year than any other team by going 49-33, finishing one gut wrenching loss from the second round of the playoffs. Josh Smith to Brooklyn?

Per @MaxLuckan on twitter, the Nets are front runners to secure Josh Smith. And according to Chris Broussard, the Hawks have a 60 % chance of dealing Smith and the Nets are interested.

It’s easy to see why Atlanta wants to deal Smith. After years of chasing a title behind Joe Johnson, the Hawks dealt him to Brooklyn in a cost cutting move. Danny Ferry has brought about a new era in Atlanta where the team hopes to be more fiscally responsible: something the new CBA practically mandates. So once reports surfaced that Smith seeks a max deal, it seems the writing is on the wall.
